The overall aim of this project was to find innovative means of upgrading the physical standards of motels in regional Australia in line with market expectations. This part of the study examined the consumer perspective by addressing the following research questions: 1. What are the needs of the consumer market(s) for 3-4 STAR motel accommodation? 2. What constraints are motel owner/ operators facing when deciding to carry out renovation or refurbishment programs of their physical facilities? 3. What will consumers want in the future in terms of physical facilities in 3-4 STAR motel accommodation?
